Welcome Pigs!

This year we will be raising 6 pigs, for a total of 12 half-shares. We price our pork shares at $3.50 per pound (hanging weight) plus butchering fees, which cost around $150 per half share. Typical half-share hanging weight is between 100-115 lbs. This means a 105-lb half share will cost approximately $515.

Our pigs are Tamworths, which is a heritage breed well-suited for foraging and living the good life outside. Tamworths are a “bacon breed” that are highly sought after for their great-tasting lean meat.

As always, our pasture-raised pigs are fed certified-organic feed. Though more expensive than conventional feed, we decided to only feed organic because we wouldn't support spraying pesticides on our own farm, nor appreciate our neighbors spraying, and therefore we do not want to support the practice in other people's backyards.

In order to sell pork in the state of Wisconsin, it must be butchered at a USDA-inspected facility. Your pork share will be butchered and available for pick-up from Geiss Meats in Merrill, Wisconsin. Local delivery will be available on a limited basis for an additional fee.

To reserve your pasture-raised pork share, please provide a $100 deposit before July 1.

Update August 23, 2017: Our pork shares are sold out for 2017. Please contact us if you'd like to be put on our list for 2018!

August 1, 2017: Limited pork shares are still available! Get in touch to reserve yours today: orangedogfarmWI[at]gmail.com
